thus they will get comfort whenever they are homesick or they run into trouble. with the help of the telephone, people can keep in touch with anyone at any time and in any place for urgent help.

The sun shone bright onto my face, dancing on my eyelids.Within a few seconds I opened my eyes to a new day so full of promise and hope, just like the morning sunshine. However, the lovely day would have to be a sad one, for I‘d have to leave my home for college.
Turning around, my mother fixed her eyes on the phone.Blinking back tears, she forced her attention elsewhere. Mum got herself busy and did all the things she needed to do. Still,my rare silence made the house strangely empty. However, like the fledgling, I had to fly away and find my place in the world.She knew this in her mind, yet her heart was still saddened.
Time marched on and there was nothing we could do to stop it. Soon we were in the running car, feeling the warm breeze on our faces. Maybe it‘s quite a suitable time to show love to each other, but neither of us said anything.The sun finally dipped below the horizon, and we were in different places. No calls from home, though I knew exactly what she was doing then. She must have turned away from the phone so as not to see it, and continued to do the endless house work as usual.
No choice is perfect in the world. But I will always be grateful for the priceless gift that day gave me: the wisdom to know that all our experience in life does not make us less but more able to love.

five musicians in neat evening dress were singing mozarts requiem in a bombed-out library, or rather amid a heap of rubble. the rough venue and tight security check had kept down the audience, but the concert was being televised live on international media networks -- to raise charity funds, incidentally.
it was an incongruous situation. the air was resonant with the music and songs mourning for the countless lives lost in the war. gunfire of hatred could destroy everything physical, but it could never stifle the voice of beauty and compassion from the human hearts.
the scene was in downtown sarajevo, capital of war-torn bosnia, the same venerable city visited by -- perhaps you remember -- joan baez the pop singer and pacifist from america, who came and sang at concerts there last year.
mostly she travelled around in an armoured personnel carrier, but one day she took a walk outside. in front of a bakery reduced to ruins, she saw a man playing the cello there for the 22nd day hitherto, grieving with his music over the bombardment victims, including his own brother.
joan stopped. she listened to him playing adagio, bemoaning the ghastly deaths and rejoicing over the miraculous survivals. finally, she knelt down beside the cellist and the two ended up in a close embrace, weeping.
鈥淎ll day long, i was seized by a swoon of soundless sorrow,鈥?wrote the singer later. 鈥淚 wouldnt have regretted it even if id died that very day!鈥?reading those printed words, i felt tears welling up in my eyes and music ringing in my ears -- an image of the ruins, witness to the dignity of man.

the loud rock music, and the noisy argument happen in your net door, and you just want to read your favorite book or even to have a good sleep. how do you feel your neighbor in this situation? after you have lived for one year, one day, your friends ask your neighbor’s name; however, you may see them only several times in a year. are they good neighbors? although these situations are in imagination, in reality, they eist. good neighbors can create safe and warm living sphere. people can’t help ask what is a good neighbor? there is a board and vague question, but, in my opinion, good neighbor should be characteristics of basic conditions: concerned about other’s feelings, and helping each other.
the sense of concern about others plays a fundamental role in the harmony of the neighborhood. residents enjoy their family time in their own home. however, the outsiders, neighbors those have their happy moment by yielding noises, for eample, loud music, and kala ok at midnight, or by shouting at home during hockey game, can disrupt such sweet time. in addition, the etent of concern about the backyard also creates the problems between neighbors. the garbage scatters everywhere, attracting mosquitoes that may be bring infectious virus such west nile bird virus, and neighbors do not shovel the snow on the house side-road, leading to inconvenience to the disable people who ride wheels. the concern forces neighbor to turn down volumes and clear their living environment, and hence retain the harmony in the neighborhood. such concern about others can avoid the conflicts between neighbors, but helping each other can result in a safe and warm neighborhood. your neighbors shovel the snow on your side-road when they do for themselves. they take care of your pets when you are not at home. they watch strangers when they see them roaming around the neighborhood. in turn, you do the same thing for your neighbors when you are in that situation. accordingly, the neighborhood becomes more and more safe and warm. the help will etend out of the neighborhood. last month, the battery of my landlady’s truck was dead in the parking lord. i though that she would call some friends or mechanists for help; however, half and hour later, her neighbor brought a battery for her.
therefore, the judgment of a good neighbor does not depend on the reputation that purports the first impression but on their attitudes to others, including the sense of concern about others, and the etent of helping each other. such characteristics can bring about a safe and warm neighborhood and eliminate the conflicts between neighbors

Films and TV series are now not graded in China. Therefore, no matter what kind of fihn or TV series is being shown, it is connnon to see parents and children going to the cinema together, or the whole family, grandparents, parents, and children, sitting together in front of the sameTV set enjoying the same film or series. Some people think this has given rise to at least two problems.
The first problem is that fihn makers are caught in a dilemma because they do not know what kind of film they should make to satisfy both the adults and the children. They must make great efforts to meet the satisfaction of the adults, and at the same time go out of their way to avoid imposing bad influence on the children. Consequently, they lose both kinds of audiences, wasting a lot of money. The second problem is that non graded fihns and TV series might give young viewers, especially children, the wrong moral impression. They see a lot of violence, sex and crime in films and TV series that are not intended for them. Many young people try to imitate in their daily life what they saw in films and TV series, which are harmful both to the society and to the individuals.
I think it absolutely necessary that the fihns be graded.
